I absolutely loved Saw. The entire movie was outstanding, and the ending completely blew me away; not to mention the entire theater. So as I bought my ticket tonight to watch the sequel, my expectations were high. Right from the beginning you get pulled into the horror and the suspense, as you watch victim after victim get their survival skills tested by the serial killer known as Jigsaw, who is played beautifully by Tobin Bell. Unlike the first go around, Saw 2 features much better acting and overall the new storyline works great. Donnie Wahlberg plays the excellent role of a hardened police detective that is forced to take over Jigsaw's case once his son gets kidnapped, along with Dina Meyer (Starship Troopers) as his sidekick. As was the case in the first film, Saw 2 features an intense and insanely intricate plot, with so many subtle twists and turns that will leave your jaw on the floor (hopefully not in a sticky spot). And of course, Saw 2 features more quality-kills like it's predecessor, as I had to look away at least five or six times during the film. It's got blood (Yes, there will be blood.), suspense, decent acting, and monster plot twists, which means it's got all the building blocks to a stellar horror movie. But does it really stack up?

Well since you have eyes, you obviously already saw what I scored Saw 2 since I put the score above the actual review (maybe I should change that, huh?). I gave it 3/4 clocktowers because while Saw 2 is an awesome film, it just fell a little short. If you've seen the first film, you'll be too prepared for a few of the scenes; basically you could yell out what is going to happen. But, on the other hand, it's virtually impossible to figure out the huge plot twist at the end of this one, and although it's not as good as the first film's delicious twist, it's pretty damn close. In other words, it's all just minor details; you'll really enjoy Saw 2. The acting was a very noticeable problem in the first film (it's only blemish IMO), and right from the start I was able to tell improvements were made. This movie should definately be on every single one of your to-see lists, because it's one of the best movies this year; not to mention the best horror movie since Saw 1. I highly recommend Saw 2; you will not be disappointed!
