The West Wing Season 7 Review

Over the last few years, The West Wing has become one of televisions best dramas with the award hardware to prove it. While the series has officially ended, the release of The Complete Seventh Season on DVD will pull you back into your living rooms for nearly 16 hours of pure political drama at its finest. Sadly, the majority of those sixteen hours only consist of the 22 episodes, as Warner Bros has only included one special feature in the entire set. Why in the world would they do this for the final season in one of the greatest television shows in the past decade is beyond me; my best bet is that they're saving all the best special features for a huge "West Wing" box set that includes all the seasons. Regardless, true fans of The West Wing won't even really care, because you buy these box set seasons on DVD for the episodes, not the special features. With that in mind, the complete seventh season is an absolute must-buy.

So what is the lone special feature thrown into this six disc DVD set? The solitary bonus feature is a multiangle view from the truck as the director calls the live debate episode, which is honestly really cool. In retrospect, this one extra is better than the five or six crappy ones usually found on seasons, although some audio commentary from the actors and directors for each episode would have elevated this set into the "Godlike" category. Oh and of course you'll also be getting French and Spanish subtitles, in case you want a creative way to study a new language or you just don't know english. If the latter is true, well, then I don't really know why you're reading this review since it's in english. Oh well. While I was a little disappointed by the lack of bonus features, this set is still a must have because of the episodes alone. Season 7 is arguably the best season from one of the best television dramas in recent memory. Pick this bad boy up today.
