National Lampoon's Spring Break Review
National Lampoon
March 15th, 2007

It's that time of the year again. College students around the country are packing their swimsuits and two-story beer bongs for their Spring Break destination of choice, whether it be in the States or down south at one of the many fine Mexican hot spots. Whether you end up in Cancun or Panama City Beach, you're in for a ridiculously insane week filled with body shots, bikini contests, and kegs in the sand. While I'm sad to report that I recently graduated and cannot attend the festivities this year, I am happy to say that I'm doing arguably the next best thing in reviewing "National Lampoon's Spring Break", which just got unleashed as an unrated DVD worldwide. Now I'm 99% sure they didn't make a "rated" version of this, but I can understand why; who the hell would buy the damn thing if they came out with a PG-13 one? Not me, and not you. Anywhozy, when you pick up this DVD you can expect lots of party action, a cornucopia of nudity, and then some more nudity. In all seriousness, National Lampoon did stick to their name and throw in a really funny two-man skit throughout the feature presentation that really elevates this title above your typical "Girls Gone Wild"; you know, so your parents can enjoy it too.

From a DVD perspective, aside from the feature presentation you're not getting much else. NL did trow in some extra behind the scenes footage at the end and a couple trailers, but that's it. From a consumer point of view it's pretty disappointing, but when you really think about it this DVD is really just party footage (aside from the two-man skit) so there's not much else to present. Here's the bottom line: if you've got money to blow and couldn't afford a trip to Cancun and want to get the next best experience, go out and rent this one. The two-man comedy skit throughout is funny, but I don't think it is enough to warrant a purchase. Then again, you may want to have this one in your collection if you can't go on Spring Break next year, so maybe it should be a purchase. Regardless, we recommend a rental first; then decide if it's worthy for a spot on your shelf.
