The doctor is back and he's better than ever. The longest running science fiction show in history continues it's push onto DVD with the release of "Doctor Who: The Complete Second Series" from our friends across the pond at BBC Video. In Season One those of us stateside were introduced to arguably the greatest sci-fi television show of all time; at least those of us that didn't own a ginormous satelitte dish that picked up British programming. Doctor Who blends stellar acting with superb writing to form an amazing product that every sci-fi fan should witness; I hated Star Trek folks, but this show has got me hooked. While the show is fantastic, what about the special features; did any get crammed onto any of these six discs?

While Season One may have set the bar ridiculously high as far as the quality and the quantity of the special features, Season Two took it even further and packaged in over four hours of amazing special features that make this box set well worth the purchase price. From video diaries of David Tennant and Billie Piper, to hours of audio and in-vision commentary and deleted scenes, "Doctor Who: The Complete Second Series" has raised the proverbial bar even higher. That in itself, is a major accomplishment considering what BBC Video did with the first installment; all in all I'm very, very impressed. Sci-fi fans should be shot if they don't pick this set up; if you're not the biggest sci-fi fan, well, this is still an outstanding television show that I bet you'll still like. Give it a try - phenomenal DVD release!
