Close your eyes for a moment and try to imagine what our world will look like in twenty years. What comes to mind? Flying cars? College Downtime surpasses Google as the #1 website on the Interweb? Nuclear devastation? It's impossible to speculate because even though twenty years isn't long from a chronological point of view, it will seem like eons to the political and technological landscapes. Governments can be overthrown, and technology will continue to grow exponentially; that means in twenty years our world can and may look drastically different. P.D. James, an established female writer from England, unveiled a book in 1992 that serves as one prediction of what our world will be like in the year 2027, and her words were so inspiring that Hollywood took notice and turned it into a major motion picture. That book (as well as the film) is called Children of Men, and it portrays a dark landscape twenty years from now in which women have gone infertile, and as a result the human race is dying. Not all is lost however, as beaurocrat Clive Owen comes across a pregnant woman and acts as her escort and her protection to not only get her out of their totalitarian country but also to a secret organization known as "The Human Project", which goal is to essentially cure the worldwide infertility epidemic. Children of Men not only pacts gripping suspense with unbelievable screenplay, acting, and directing, but also a ton of phenomenal DVD special features that really make this film a must have in your collection.

It's rare to see any movie dedicate so much quality content to it's special feature area on the DVD release. Here at College Downtime we always preach quality over quantity when it comes to reviewing DVD's, and Children of Men is arguably the most complete disc we've seen to date. Not only do you get a smorgesboard of special features, but every single one of them will blow you away because of how special they are. When DVD releases include commentary via the actors, producers, and directors, that usually results in a very high score. Children of Men has not only done that, but ultimately raised the bar to an entirely new dimension because the commentary here is simply outstanding. You really have to see it to believe it, because I'm honestly blown away. On top of that Universal threw in deleted scenes, a few features on how they made the movie which are stellar themselves, and much more. This film alone would sell a ridiculous amount of DVDs, but the fact that they jam packed this single disc with high quality special feature after high quality special feature makes this release an absolute must have. Children of Men undoubtedly receives our highest and utmost recommendation.
