You know, cartoons can win Emmy Awards too. Granted unless they're named "The Simpsons" or "Family Guy" it will usually be a Daytime Emmy Award, but it's still a damn Emmy Award nonetheless. "Batman Beyond Season 3", which is just about to get unleashed onto DVD, brought home not one but two coveted Daytime Emmy Awards for "Outstanding Special Class Animated Program" and "Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition". Pretty impressive, eh hoser? I'd say so. If you're unfamiliar with the Batman Beyond animated series, let me do my best to bring you up to speed. Bruce Wayne gets his high tech Batman suit ganked by Terry McGinnis, and two years after the grand theft he finally dons the suit and takes over the superhero role. In this third and final season he gets invited to the Justice League by Superman, and takes the invitation into serious consideration. Will he join the Justice League to fight alongside other crime fighters, or will Terry McGinnis go it alone? If two friggin Emmy Awards isn't enough motivation for you to pick up Season 3 to find out, maybe the cornucopia of special features will.

You know the ol' saying around here: Quality over Quantity. Batman Beyond Season 3 is a perfect example of that rhetoric because while it only comes with two extra features, they both go an extremely long way in terms of quality. The better of the two, and remember nation they're both outstanding, is a delicious panel discussion from the producers that goes miles deep into the making of not only the third season but the series as well. I honestly wish every DVD release had something as intricate and comprehensive as this feature; Warner Bros is really raising the bar with this one, it's that cool. The other phenomenal featurette you'll be sinking your teeth into is another discussion-type extra as each of the creators and actors talk about their favorite moments on once again not only this third season, but the entire series. Remember, this is the final season of Batman Beyond; you're getting all 13 episodes on two DVD discs as well as two disgustingly awesome bonus features. Every comic book/superhero/cartoon fan out there needs to pick up the third and final series of Batman Beyond. It's fantazmagistical, and honestly raises the bar as to what DVD releases should be. Pick this one up today, and get ready to feel like a kid again.
