The Summer Obsession - Pop / Rock / Indie
Band added by Raffman on July 7th, 2006.

THEY come from opposite ends of the country, they're infatuated with sealife, and they've got none other than Christ himself pumping the bass. If that raised an eyebrow, wait 'til you hear their music, because it's sure to raise the other. The Summer Obsession, or "TSO" for the acronym fanatics out there hail out of sunny Florida but aren't shy with their tour bus, as you can find them all over the continental US from Furman University to Southern Cal and every stop in between. TSO consists of four artists: Lucien plays the piano and carries the lead vocals, Fin (who we interviewed below!) also does the vocals along with the guitar, Christ as I've already mentioned creates his magic with the bass, and last but not least Chris (who apparently is a major pyro) is on the drums. You can download all their free mp3's below, and you can check out their latest music video right here as well. Thanks to Fin and the rest of TSO for taking time out of their busy schedule to find time for the interview; we really appreciate it!

The Interview!
1. How long have you guys been together?
The Summer Obsession (TSO) was born two years ago. We have Lucien on lead vocals and piano, Fin (that's me!) on vocals and guitar, Christ on bass and Chris on drums.

2. Who thought of the band name? Any meaning or influences behind it?
Lucien and I were on my parents back porch throwing around ideas for a new project we wanted to start and The Summer Obsession sort of slapped us in the face. We really love the summer - the sun, the weather, the beach.. it's a sign of fresh air for students everywhere and in our opinion one of the most carefree seasons..it also doesn't hurt to daydream about the summer when it's another time of the year.

3. Who has been your biggest influence behind your band's music?
We are influenced by every type of music that touches our ears.. but some of TSO's main influences include the Foo Fighters, the Police, U2, Blink 182, NWA, the Doors, Sublime, Face To Face...

4. Out of your currently released tracks, which is the biggest fan favorite?
It seems that every fan has their favorite track when it comes to TSO; some of the biggest favorites are Melt The Sugar, Do You Remember, Disappear, Death Said and Where You Belong.

5. Have you performed outside of LA and the West coast much? Where else?
Oh yes, Lucien, Christ and I are all from Jacksonville, FL and Chris is from Salt Lake City, UT so we've sort of evened ourselves out over the states. We've toured most of the USA except Texas and the neighboring states.

6. When's the next tour planned? Where to?
We are doing an east coast tour with Settings and Hometown Anthem from July 6th-22nd, a west coast tour with Houston Calls and Quiet Drive from July 27th-August 9th and another east coast tour with Bottom Line and Forever In Fall from August 12th-September 2nd. We plan on being on the road for much of the next year promoting our new album which is in stores August 29th. :)

7. Funniest story from your tours?
We just played the Atlanta Warped Tour - Christ and I had shorts on that were maybe even too short for girls to wear.. but we wore them all day and duct taped TSO posters to ourselves and ran around like crazy men telling people when we were playing. People got A LOT of funny pictures!!

8. What's the band's favorite venue to play at?
In Reno, NV we played on the World's 2nd biggest stage at the Reno Hilton Theater... it was HUGEEE... also we've played at the Playboy Mansion a couple times.. that stage is always fun ;)

9. Have you performed at or near any universities?
We have AMAZING friends at Greenville, SC's Furman University - we hit it off right away with these guys and have been playing at their official 'beach weekend' every year.. this year was 600 guys and girls on the beach in Myrtle Beach, SC and a 20 song set.. it was amazing!! We also play in Greenville and at our friends' fraternity house Sigma Nu! Some of our biggest supporters :) We also play at UNF in Jacksonville, FL every once in a while and we are always playing and hanging out around UCF in Orlando, FL and FSU in Tallahassee, FL..... we just have a lot of friends around.

10. What's the greatest thing about being in a band?
The greatest thing about being in a band is being able to connect with people... we get to meet so many awesome, legit people all over the world and you can't trade experiences and friendships like that for anything.. that and the fact that we are doing what we love, playing music, hanging out, traveling.. it's like nothing else.

11. Where do you see The Summer Obsession in 5 years?
Living and recording at our own house in Costa Rica!!

12. Who gets all the girls?
I'd say we all get our fair share.. we REALLY like girls..

13. If you could open for any band at any venue in the world, who would it be for and where would you play?
I'd like the Police to reform for one night and us get to open for them at Madison Square Gardens...

14. For the whole band, what would each of you be doing right now if you weren't in the band or a musician?
I would be living in Amsterdam.... Christ would be living there with me... Lucien would be in College.....Chris would be lost in Japan... haha
