Half-Life 2 Episode 2 Preview
PC (Valve)
FPS, Release Date: Late 2007
Posted January 10th, 2006

"We're done running. This is our chance to take back our world. We're not going to lose it a second time." Episode II picks up right where the previous episode left off, with the heartpounding escape of the imploding Citadel in City 17. I mentioned this in my Episode I review last June and I'm gonna say it again: you need to pick up a copy of Half-Life 2 for the PC if you haven't played it yet. There's a damn good reason why it owns a gazillion "Game of the Year" awards, and that should be more than enough incentive to buy this game. Like, right now. If you aren't planning on heeding my advice, spare me the bitchy emails because I'm about to "trow" some spoilers at ya. Do yourself a favor and get HL2 and Episode I, you will not regret it. Now back to our regularly scheduled preview.

Just like you've seen at the end of Episode I in the trailer, Episode II features completely new, expansive forrest environments that look unbelievable. Along with the giant new environments Gordon will also have new weapons at his disposal, as well as new enemies like Tripods to test them out on. The word on the street is that Episode II will focus much more on vehicles than its predecessors, and from the videos below it looks like that word is correct. From a storyline perspective, the G-Man is not only losing control of you but also the entire planet as a result. This is setting up to be one helluva showdown in the final episode. My only request: I want to square off with that beeotch on the streets of de_westwood, right in front of the bank. And I want to be wearing my Chuck Norris Action Jeans too. Is that too much to ask Valve? Oh, the word also "mentioned" that Dog will play a much bigger role in Episode Dos, however that's all we could find out about the lovable pet. And yeah, Alyx is still right by your side and looking fine in the process.

There's no discussion here people; Episode II needs to be downloaded via your Steam account as soon as this bad boy gets officially released later on this year. If you've never played HL2 before, I hope you appreciated all the spoilers and I hope preview has finally convinced your lazy ass to pick up this series! There's a reason why Half-Life 2 has been dubbed as the greatest FPS shooter evar; it's got the story, graphics, and most importantly the gameplay to back it up! More info as it comes!
