Embarrassing Moment - Anorexic Girl

Being 5'7" tall and weighing barely 100 pounds, I have always been one of the skinniest kids in my class. The first question most people ask me is: "are you anorexic?" I always very politely reply, "No, I'm just skinny." And then walk away, never to look back.

Besides my weight, there is one more thing that separates me from the rest of the other kids in my entire grade: I am at least 2 years younger than anyone in my class. Right now, I am a 14-year old sophomore, and I will only be 15 in October.

Needless to say, I get quite a few comments about that aswell, but I have learned to deal with it. Until the day, when everything just came crashing down on me...

At my school, there are a bunch of people who walk around, taking pictures of anything of interest for the yearbook. One day one of my friends brought her camera to school. As far as I knew, she was not on the yearbook staff, so I figured she had just brought her camera for her own personal album.

She told me that she wanted to see what I would look like fat, so she told me to blow out my cheeks. I did and she took a close-up of my face.

As the school year went by, I forgot all about that picture, until the yearbook came out. I'm one of those people who scrutinize the yearbook, stare at every picture and check out every little detail.

As you probably have guessed by now, there was a giant picture of me on the first page. My cheeks were all blown out and the caption under the picture read: "A 14-year-old anorexic girl on drugs!"

I was horrified! I have never gotten over that picture, but at least now I can laugh at it, because I know that my friend just did that to be clever. And we're still friends to this day. But I'll never forget what I thought when I saw the picture for the first time.
